Denzil Edge, Ph.D.           Denzil Edge is a researcher, educator and entrepreneur.   He was an professor, administrator and researcher at the University of Louisville, and he has founded 3 technology companies.   He was the CEO/President of The Learning House, Inc. ( from 2000 through 2007.  In November 2007, Dr. Edge sold ninety (90) percent of the company to Mr. David Richardson, Mr. Steve Huey and group of equity investors.  Dr. Edge served as Founder and President of The Learning House, Inc. until January 2009. The Learning House, Inc. ( ), is a comprehensive online education solutions company that helps colleges offer online degree programs.  Dr. Edge and his wife, Sharon M. Edge launched The Learning House, Inc. in 1985.  Following is their story for Learning House( ) .

Dr. Edge is an internationally known educator with extensive experience in distance education and distance learning technologies. He has been extremely active in the field of higher education in Kentucky, Florida, Alaska, Scotland, Germany, and Australia as a researcher, teacher and academic contributor. He pioneered the development of distance learning television and Internet programs in the fields of special education and teacher education. He has taught more than 60 distance learning courses using a variety of distance learning technologies, and he has built more than 50 online campuses.  Under Dr. Edge’s leadership, The Learning House, Inc. developed more than 600 online courses and built the marketing search engine, eLearnPortal ( to assist small colleges to recruit potential students for their programs.

Dr. Edge served as Professor and Director of Distance Education Programs at the University of Louisville. He is a recipient of the University of Louisville's Board of Trustees Award for Outstanding Teaching and Support of Graduate and Undergraduate Education. This prestigious cash award is granted by the Board of Trustees at the University of Louisville to administrators or faculty members who have achieved high honors for the institution.  Additional honors for his distance learning programs include three awards from the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) in the category of "Best Distance Learning Programs in Higher Education." He is a Board Member of the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) and served as Co-Executive Editor of
USDLA Publications. 

Dr. Edge has extensive experience in college advancement, admissions, program development, grant writing, online course development, and virtual campus strategic planning.  He has developed more than 50 online campuses for colleges and universities.  In April of 2008, he was honored by the University of the Cumberlands and Dr. Stephen Covey for his leadership in the field of higher education and technology by being presented the Stephen Covey Leadership Award (

He has written and managed numerous federal, state and foundation grants in the areas of undergraduate and graduate education employing distance learning technologies. In addition, he has consulted with a wide range of businesses and educational institutions on the development of international education programs and the building of online and CD/DVD courses. At Learning House, Dr. Edge, his wife, Sharon M. Edge and his Learning House team have developed more than 600 distance

( learning courses (Online, CD/DVD, compressed video, etc.).  Dr. Edge is the author of more than 90 articles, books and reports and has delivered over 250 presentations, keynotes and workshops on distance learning, parent/family education, and the education of children with special needs.
